The objective of this Masters programme is to provide an in-depth look at the foundations of nursing, constructing theoretical models to develop and cover the many knowledge areas needed for research in oncology nursing. This includes the study of different methods of analysing ethical problems, and the supporting theoretical framework, as well as ethical complications for nurses in oncology care. It will use practical situations from which to analyse the ethics involved and make decisions.

The Masters places emphasis on the relationship between theory and practice, using real life situations as the starting point from which knowledge is scientifically constructed, then applied in practice, where it is tried out and validated. This process of feedback between knowledge and practice is beneficial to the subject area and consolidates the profession.

The course content includes:

* Nursing care practices
* Taxonomic approach to the care process
* Use of taxonomies to develop care plans
* Analysis and development of nursing taxonomies
* Nursing diagnosis: analysis and research
* Ethics and oncology care
* The Bioethical debate and its methodologies
* People’s rights: moral and professional obligations, information and informed consent
