The campus is located on the Gießberg, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) from the center of the city. It is easily accessible by foot, bike, and the thorough public bus system of the city. Dense construction, short paths, the absence of large auditoriums in exchange for a large number of seminar rooms, as well as the variety of work, traffic, and quiet areas, are all part of the architectural concept. University Cafeterias in Konstanz
The Student Welfare Service (Seezeit Studentenwerk Bodensee) runs different cafeterias at the University and the University of Applied Sciences. In these establishments, food and drink is offered at a very low price, as compared to local restaurants. In Konstanz, these locations include a cafeteria at the University on the Gießberg, mainly used by students at the University of Konstanz, and a cafeteria located at Alfred-Wachtel-Straße 12, which serves the students of the University of Applied Sciences. This establishment moved into its new, modern building in 1995.
